Data Collection and Review

This project unites the efforts of the offices of Macomb County Public Works Commissioner, Oakland County Drain Commissioner, Macomb County Health Department, Oakland County Human Services Department, Michigan Department of Environmental Quality and the Cities of Warren, Center Line, Hazel Park and Madison Heights.

The project began by assembling all available water quality data. The City of Warren performs storm water sampling at eight locations within the Bear Creek drainage area as required under its EPA Phase I storm water permit. In addition, the Macomb County Health Department, as part of its, ongoing surface water monitoring program, samples at three locations in the Bear Creek district. The Clinton River Watershed Council also has studied the water quality of Bear Creek. Its findings have been summaried in a report entitled, Tracking Scat in Bear Creek, a watershed plan funded by the MDEQ using Clean Water Act Section 319 funding. Sampling locations for the City of Warren and the Health Department are shown on the Data Summary Map below. The results are shown on the data summary table for the City of Warren. The Macomb County Health Department surface water sampling data is available on its web site.
